Launch of Girls in Tech Spain (English)

We are thrilled to announce the launch of Girls in Tech Spain. From March 2015 Girls in Tech has a new chapter in Europe.

Girls in Tech is a global non-profit focused on the engagement, education and empowerment of influential women in technology and entrepreneurship. We focus on the promotion, growth and success of entrepreneurial and innovative women in the technology space.

Girls in Tech is a global organisation which was created in February 2007 by Adriana Gascoigne. This group was born out of a need to provide a place for women to cultivate ideas around their careers and business concepts involving technology and entrepreneurship. Girls in Tech is headquartered in San Francisco, CA and has multiple chapters around the world, including North America, Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and South America.

Girls in Tech offers a variety of initiatives for women and girls to enhance their professional aspirations. Our programs include GIT M (Mentorship Program), GITHacks, GIT360 Labs, XChange, Girls in Tech Conference, Global Classroom (online education), and many more.

Girls in Tech Spain was founded at the beginning of 2015. In STEM fields the figures are higher for male employees in these areas than women and we want to help these numbers change, to gain some balance in these sectors.

Nichelle Nichols, famous for her role in Star Trek was also an ambassador for NASA. Her most famous quote is:

¨Science is not a boy’s game, it’s not a girl’s game. It’s everyone’s game.

It’s about where we are and where we’re going.”

A great quote to end on…this sums up perfectly our new project.
